Searching for the Big Five in less Explored Kidepo Valley and Murchison falls National park- 7 Days
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
On arrival, you will be met by your guide at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a moment with the re-introduced magnificent White Rhinos. The Rhinos were poached to extinction in the country in the 1970’s, thanks to the government and nature enthusiasts for the re-introduction. After Rhino tracking, the tour will proceed to Masindi for the overnight.
In this case the flight which brings you to Uganda will have to arrive in the morning hours.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking at Kanio Papid
After breakfast at the hotel, with packed lunch we transfer to Kanio Pabid for Chimpanzee Tracking. We proceed to the top of the iconic Murchison falls from which Uganda’s largest game park gets her name; this is where the world’s longest river (River Nile) explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Great rift escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below.
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park.
You will have breakfast then head for the morning game drive on the Buligi, Albert or Queens tracks north of river Nile for the early risers. We look out for a variety of game namely; Rothschild’s Giraffe, a number of Antelope species, African Lion, Leopard, African Elephant, a variety of savannah grassland birds, just to mention but a few.
After the game drive, you will return for lunch after which you will go for a launch cruise on the white-Nile for game viewing at close quarters; this is a paradise for hippos and crocodiles and, a fascinating birdlife among which might include the Shoebill- Africa’s most sought-after-bird.
Day 4: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park.
Have breakfast and with packed lunch be driven through verdant countryside, past traditional homesteads into the drier and least exploited northern and north-eastern Uganda. Kidepo Valley National Park has the second highest mammal list of all game parks in Uganda; after Queen Elizabeth National Park. Up to 80 species of mammals have been recorded at this site, 28 species are range restricted to this area in Uganda. Amongst these are such charismatic African animals as the Bat-eared Fox, Cheetah, Common Zebra and Klipspringer just to mention but a few.
Day 5: Morning and evening game drives in Kidepo Valley National Park.
The game dives are likely to see more mammals among which might include; African Elephant, Common Zebras, Cape Buffalo, Bohor Reedbuck, Waterbuck, Kongoni, Leopard, African Lion, Rothschild Giraffe, Warthog, Oribi, Guenther’s Dik Dik, Senegal Galago, Side-striped Jackal, White-tailed Mongoose and much more. Kidepo also has a rich bird Checklist with speciality species of the Somali-masai biome along a very rich and diverse reptile fauna. You are likely to tick-off many of them during the game drive.
Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe
The journey to Kampala is generally long; therefore you will have breakfast early in the morning in order to travel in time. Lunch enroute
Day 7: Departure – End of Uganda Safari
Your guide will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight.
